Qualified car mechanic

A workshop looking for a mechanic with demonstrable hands-on experience, able to work independently. This is not an entry-level position.

The employer is looking for a professional who can identify a fault, explain its cause technically and carry out the repair correctly. This is not a parts-swapping role.

The work covers full engine and transmission repairs, not only routine servicing. Selection is based on real experience, not on what a CV claims.

Responsibilities

Diagnosing mechanical faults and establishing the real cause
Stripping, repairing and reassembling engines
Work on cylinder heads, timing, camshafts, valves, pistons, conrods, bearings
Replacing and timing the timing system
Removing, diagnosing and repairing gearboxes
Replacing clutches and flywheels
Work on braking, steering and suspension systems
Explaining the technical cause of a fault before repairing it

Requirements

At least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience
Diagnosing mechanical faults
Stripping, repairing and reassembling engines
Assessing wear and internal engine damage
Work on cylinder heads, timing, camshafts, valves, pistons, conrods, bearings
Replacing and correctly timing the timing system
Removing and refitting gearboxes
Diagnosing and carrying out gearbox work
Replacing clutches and flywheels
Work on braking, steering and suspension systems
Correct use of workshop tools and equipment
Able to work independently, without constant supervision

Mandatory practical testFinal acceptance follows an interview and a practical test. Experience stated in a CV is not treated as sufficient proof of skill.At preselection we will ask: where you worked and for how long, which repairs you carry out on your own, which diagnostic equipment you use and whether you can read technical diagrams.
